The course "Nature-Based Solutions for Sustainable Conservation of African Biodiversity" was held on 16 September 2025 and introduced how Nature-based Solutions can address biodiversity loss in Africa.
The course on biodiversity conservation and ecosystem restauration was held on 14th and 15th August 2024. After completing the activities planned for this course, the participants are:
- aware of fundamental concepts related to nature-based solutions biodiversity conservation and ecosystem restoration
- aware of the international environment on biodiversity conservation and ecosystem restoration (international conventions and mechanisms – stressing on CBD, IPBES, the Kunming-Montreal Biodiversity Framework-KMBF, the 30x30 strategy) and its links with national strategies (uptake of international strategies at the national level, i.e., KMBF and NBSAPs etc.)
- aware of the potential roles of IPBES and Science-Policy-Practice Interfaces (SPPI) for the conservation of biodiversity and restoration of disturbed ecosystems in Africa
- able to develop nature-based and contextualised biodiversity conservation and ecosystem restoration strategies
